Together, Julia Ito and Utum Yang, two passionate musicians, founded "Duo Fantasia". In their concerts, they offer a wide range of programs, from Baroque to Classical and Romantic to Modern. The artists want to stimulate their audience mentally and propose thematic focuses in guest performances.

Utum Yang, Unmistakable expressiveness and an extraordinary stage presenceSouth Korean Flutist

Utum Yang received his musical training at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich,
where he completed both his Artistic Diploma and Master’s degree in flute performance.
Showing exceptional musical talent from an early age, he received numerous awards in his youth.
At the age of thirteen he made his concerto debut with Mozart’s Flute Concerto,
and in 2013 he appeared again as a soloist performing Romberg’s Flute Concerto
with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra.
With exceptional breath control, Yang shapes long, expansive musical lines
and gives his playing an almost orchestral dimension.

His expressive range extends from fragile delicacy to dramatic intensity, always marked by a charismatic and authentic presence on stage. Yang performs regularly in classical concert series and music festivals, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
He has appeared in gallery and museum programs, as well as interdisciplinary productions including collaborations with dance, theatre, and narrative performance formats. Special appearances include the “Long Night of the Museums” at the Glyptothek Munich and the 50-year anniversary concert at the Bibliotheksaal Polling (2025).
He also creates tailor-made programs for cultural events and contributes to outreach projects that bring music to places
where live concerts are rarely accessible.

Since 2015 he has formed the duo Duo Fantasia together with pianist Julia Ito.
The ensemble creates thematic concert formats ranging from international friendship concerts projects focused on nature and environmental themes, combining classical music with storytelling and atmospheric moderation. In recent years Yang has drawn particular attention with an extraordinary interpretation of Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals”,
for which Duo Fantasia created a complete original version for flute and piano --an imaginative combination of vivid narration, virtuoso performance and creative arrangement → resulting in enthusiastic applause, Bravo calls, standing ovations,
and repeated media coverage
 at many performances.

As an arranger and composer, Yang incorporates elements of his cultural heritage into the modern flute.
Among his most significant works are “Nistende Kranich” and “Stimme des Rehs”, in which he unites Asian sound aesthetics with flute-specific virtuosity -- an artistic approach that has received strong resonance from audiences as well as in the media.
Within the Duo Fantasia project he also contributes to passing classical music on to the next generation:
he performs children’s and school concerts, leads workshops,
and directs his own flute ensemble that includes children, teenagers, and adults.
Yang performs as a soloist and chamber musician
in Germany, Europe, Japan, and Korea.

Julia Ito Born in Düsseldorf, Germany,
she grew up in a musical family — with a piano maker as her father and a pianist as her mother.
She studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, where she completed both her Artistic Diploma and Master’s degree, followed by postgraduate studies in the university’s master class. She also passed the German National Performer Qualification Test.
As a soloist, she performs regularly throughout Germany and Europe,
and has given recitals in France, Italy, and Japan.
Her orchestral collaborations include Mozart concertos in Kronberg and Kassel,
and Schumann’s Piano Concerto at the Starnberg Piano Festival in Andechs (2025).
Her artistic work extends to concerts in museums, galleries, and numerous traditional concert series.
Her original Märchenwelt Suite was presented as a full concert program in Fukuoka, Japan,
receiving enthusiastic acclaim. As a composer and arranger, she explores themes of nature, storytelling, and sonic color.
Since 2022 she has performed in major concert series across Germany,
while continuing to expand her activity to Japan and Asia.
Together with flutist Utum Yang, she forms the duo Duo Fantasia (est. 2015), creating thematic concert programs ranging from international friendship concerts to nature- and literature-inspired musical narratives. Since 2023 the duo has also developed family concerts and school outreach projects as part of their commitment to passing classical music on to the next generation.
Julia Ito appears as a soloist and with Duo Fantasia in Germany, Europe, Japan, and Korea.
